Steering wheel is cockeyed

Post by Chaseman »

Well i went playing and driving back I noticed that I couldn't hold my steering straight without turning to the left. What puzzles me is that it still tracks just fine when I let go of the wheel. It's dark now but I'm gonna look for bent stuff tommorow morning.

Well what were you playing? :D
Rocks? Mud? shopping carts?
So you can let go of the wheel and it will not try to go left or right? The steering wheel is just not centered anymore?

 close it was sand , rocks , and shopping carts. Anyways yeah it tracks fine the wheel is just no longer centered. I was playing in some small dunes we have down by the river and there's this big dip you have to drive in then out. In the center there's like a little island of rock which I hit so I think this was the cause. I also was drag racing a kid on this river rock road in four wheel but I don't think that was the cause.

 My friend's and I are the scourge of a certain grocery store. Do you guys do the thing where you grab the cart get going as fast as you can then brake and let go of cart? I've only heard of this though.

Once in a while, I'll do that. I've shot carts all the way across our Walmart's parking lot a couple of times.

Okay , so does the draglink part 3304 have a bend in it? Mine does and the one in the picture does not.
Also to clarify my wheel was centered till I attacked a rock then the steering wheel was off.

Sounds like you could have put a bend in the link by what you say one thing to check is you turning circle left and right see if you have lost some steering angle in a direction this might also point to a bent link. :2cents:

If your truck drives fine but the steering wheel is simply not centered anymore, just remove it and re position it. I hit something hard once in my hi-boy and found nothing bent or damaged yet my steering wheel was no longer centered so I simply removed it and put it back on straight!
