Drip mod is looking nice! Are you going to run fully debadged / detrimmed?
What kind of body filler are you going to use? Also, what is good brand of paint sealer?

I'm looking forward to starting mine soon

thats neat how did you do it? with a brush? i was thinkn about doing this the other day when my insrument cluster was tore down but i was worried about messing up the needles
I just cut little strips of a post-it note and slid it under each needle, then put 2 coats of the paint on each one. For the little strip of color under 70-100mph I masked around the original faded red/orange bar very, VERY carefully and put 2 coats of paint on it. I used a very fine paint brush, about the size of a toothpick. Its actually very easy, just don't be too rough on the needles and don't get any paint on the background(sliver of paper) and mask the 70-100mph color bar carefully. For paint I just used a little drip of blue and white hobby acrylic paint, and mixed them till I got the color I was after.

I plan on going no trim, but I like the front ford letters on the hood and and side f100 emblems. So... I think I want to keep the hood emblems. I want an original touch to it, but I like a smooth look.

For body filler, I will probably just use a little bondo here and there, where needed. There is a few dents and dings i'll fix the best I can, then make it perfect with filler.

Good luck to you with your project.

Hey Austin! Since it was a custom mixed color I think you're safe from copy-cat-ism!

Paint it blue, its fine with me, you wont be accussed of an "copy-cat-isms" . I put it on here to show everyone the idea, I haven't ever seen it before. So I want people to do it, and see other colors people use, and ideas they have.

Your right Robroy, but I think he just means the idea of blue needles in general. Its not like I patented custom gauge needle coloring... I wanna see someone try lime green on a black insrument panel, it would look good, but my truck already has a blue/black/chrome theme going.

'67 Short Wide Build (Update3/27)

Post by 1967AceStroker »

Well... its been a while. Glad to say I have a minor update for you guys. Finally starting to get some nice weather for working on the ol' truck. Also, do to some neighbors whining about the truck to the city, I had to stuff it in the garage for now. The truck is probably thinking, "Am I in jail?", or "Whats with this sleeping inside thing?"

Any how, myself and a friend pulled out the old 352/fmx today. I really plan to get working on it again with the weather warming.

'67 Short Wide Build (Update7/3)

Post by 1967AceStroker »

Its been a long while since I made any progress on my truck. I have finally been doing work on it again. :woohoo:

For starts, I finally got the cab bolted down with the new lmc mount kit. Then I cleaned the firewall and front of the frame the best I could, the oil and dirt on the cross members was like concrete. Got it cleaned pretty good then gave it a couple coats of rustoleum gloss black (rattle can). Then I put a set of 302 engine towers I pulled from a 302 bump at the junkyard. The 302 towers allow the 351C to bolt right in. 3 out of 4 holes on each side line up, then I had to drill one hole on each side to complete the install.
Image

Now I have to assemble the 351C short block and I can put her in. The motor was built, dynoed, and never used a while back, so I had a few things done to it. I had a hydraulic cam put in instead of the solid cam and had it degreed, new valve springs put on, and had the heads resurfaced.

I got a whole bunch of goodies from summit racing on the way too. I will show you some pics of it when I get them and put em on.

I hope to have lots of updates for you guys in the near future.

'67 Short Wide Build (Update11/28)

Post by 1967AceStroker »

Minor update, just got the motor all back together and ALMOST ready to install yesterday. Not much was really bolted on yet in this pic cause I couldn't wait to take some pictures, but you get the idea. I was gonna put the motor/tranny in the truck today, but I discovered I was short some oil pan bolts. I had to order them from summit. I also am a little unhappy with how much black there is. It'll look better once I get all the accessories on though.
