Hey Bill! Sounds great. When I work on that again I'll let you know how my effort goes!

I've heard from other members that they were able to clean those hinges out without problems, but that's not easy for me to believe. That grit really gets in there!

Well its always takes me longer then I expect but I finally got some stuff finished. Those things being the inner fenders, hood hinges, and radiator support. I also did the insides of the doors and outter fenders, I will have them primed tomorrow and will have pics. For the paint I sprayed on POR15 with 2 decent coats then gave a generous amount of black automotive paint that I bought from tractor supply. Everything came out way more glossy then I expected, I bought a can that said just black paint so I thought it would be more flat but it looks good. Let me know what ya think. Also, I am on a week and a half staycation and commting a majority of it to getting as much done as possible. Also going in this week for media plast and primer is my new bed. Stay tuned.

Hey Bill those look truly excellent!

That's a smart move to take your bed to be media blasted somewhere, I think. That was be a HUGE and super messy job to do with a small blaster!

I think the gloss looks great! I heard that Ford actually used a variety of black paints for those inner panels so I wouldn't worry about not matching any original factory look or anything.

I have been busy lately on my staycation, though some of this pics were prior to my latest week and a half of hard charging on the project. Today, I got the doors on. A lot of work to get them to this point with fixing rust, making patch metal and welding them in. Also had to put a little filler over the patches to smooth them all out before I primered, it actually turned out really well and I am surprised. I painted the insides the other day at the same time as the fenders using por-15 with the high gloss black paint on top of that. Here is just one of the patches I made and welded in. It was by far the biggest and most difficult.

Hey Bill! Your body work looks very impressive! I'd love to learn how to weld in those patches. The cab looks fantastic also.

But wait, theres more! For the last few days I have been dedicating a lot of time on my new bed. Spent most of the time welding up trim holes that I do not plan on using. Also had to repair a big hole cut through the left front bed bolt area including the subframe. Found some cancer on the drivers side panel that I fixed up best I could and even more on the passenger side wheel well area. Aso had to remove the bedside tool box that is in good condition, I will paint it later.
I am very fortunate to have a good friend that let me use his post barn and skid steer loader to make this difficult job a lot easier. I forgot to take a pic of when we loaded it horizontally, I strapped the front of the bed to the top of the lift and the forks were under the bottom, it was slick. While we had it strapped up, I took advantage and heated up the bowed front to return it to normal by rachiting the strap. That worked well also! However, I just realized I accidently deleted the pics of my repair to the front panel. After I got everything welded up to my satisfaction I loaded it up and dropped it off at the sand blasters. They are going to blast and prime it, as well as my grille, except the bottom of the bed which I plan on spraying with por-15 and bed liner. Going like crazy now that the weather is good here in TX!

As promised here is the bed fresh from the media blasters, grille too. I requested them to not primer the bottom of the bed so I could spray por-15 on the bottom. Gave it a good thick coat and a second coat of some flat black. I ran out of time but wanted to make sure I got some regular paint on there so I can come back on Saturday to roll on some bed liner. But I have to go to work for two days.

The bed does look good, did the blast the bottom of the bed before you coated it in POR 15? I took pictures of the tailgate but I am having trouble getting them off of my phone. If I still cant get them tomorrow I will take more pictures and get them to you. Keep up the good work!

Thanks Robroy and Ben, I try and get as much done while the weather is good here. It is just too hot in the summer here and I didn't accomplish much. Thanks for getting the pics Ben I look forward to them. Yes they did blast the entire underside of the bed just not primered, at my request.

I am going to have to start thinking about a motor soon...
