Finally an update, been working a lot on taking off paint and more paint on the cab. today it finally culminated with me getting to paint with some por-15 and primer the entire cab. Sorry I didn't get time to snap pics of the por-15 before I primered over it, but I did it on the entire floor, in the rain gutter, and inside the vents where I could physically reach. Now I can start working on some other things like the doors, front clip and fenders, and bed. Still got a long ways to go.

looking good - did you spray the por-15 on ? - wondered how you got such a smooth finish - it looks freat
Am I right in saying you have to put the primer on whilst the por-15 is still tacky ?
was it any old primer or specially selected ?

I brushed on the por-15 and yes then I sprayed the primer when it was tacky. I am very happy with the results, it smoothed out great. I used a habor frieght HVLP sprayer for the primer. And the primer was a special select oil bast from tractor supply, I belive its made by valspar.

fireguywtc how did you locate your front cab mount. do they only go on in one place or did you put the cab on and tack every thing down then pull it off. im just trying to do the same fix but have not done this before. thanks for your help and your work is inspiring.

Frankensteined, I get this question a lot, but the way I did it seems to be what people were thinking but second guessed themselves.
The way I aligned the cab mounts was first to enlist the help of a friend. I mounted the cab on the frame without the front mounts on yet and put in the bolts in the back mounts. With the front of the cab jacked up I put the front mounts under the cab and aligned everything with the frame mounts. When I was satisfied with the alignment of everthing, checking clearences, front bolts, etc., I tacked them in place. After they where tacked on good, we removed the cab and I finished the welding. To me this seems like the best way to mount everything since you have the cab on there and get to adjust it so it sits correctly before you make your cab mounts permanent. Good luck, and if you have any more ?s let me know.

sweet thanks that is what i was going to do too. i was just hoping there was a way that i would not have to put it on the frame but i does make better sense to do so.

Just a bit of an update. I have not been working on the truck as much as I have wanted to over the summer since I can't help but be so dang busy and often when I had some spare time it was to dang hot. Now it is starting to cool off and I have started my online classes but have settled into them enough to work on the truck and get my assignments done.
Today I got the rear disc brakes put on both sides. They look good and seem to be a pretty good set up however I am having a little fitment issue outside pad touching the rotor. It just bearly touches and I am not sure if I did something wrong or the mounts need to be extended a little. I will call TSM monday and figure it out. I also started working on getting the brake lines ran but it is a royal pita. Finally I have been getting the inner fenders and other associated components ready for paint. Hope to have them painted and fabbed up soon.
Here's a couple of pics of the rear disc brakes. I have a lot more and plan on doing a how to in the Wiki section when I figure that section out.

Hi Bill, your truck is looking truly fantastic!!! It makes me fantasize about ripping the cab and bed off of my truck and doing such a thorough job on it too.
I'm sure this topic has been covered in detail elsewhere, but the photos of your rear discs make me curious about them. What are the main benefits to the rear discs that made you go with the swap? They look most excellent.

a f250 with 2" drums?!?! that's crazy. i switched my 67 over to 2.5" drums partly out of convinience (i had a suspension that was already coated) but also it stops alot better now.

Just a written update today no pics to post today. (I know boring right?) I have been working on the truck when I can, but for the last couple of months, things seem to be pulling me away. I have college work, regular work, a 3 week class in San Angelo, and volunteer FD stuff. But when I have a bit, I get out there and work on it. Lately though, the weather has cooled and things are calming down and I have found more time to get a jump on the bump. The last two days I have spent media blasting inner and outter fenders, doors, valance, and the hood brakets. It was a lot of work and clean up, but I got them looking pretty good. I will be painting them this weekend after I get off work. When I complete that I will post some pics. l8r Bill

What media are you using to clean the parts? And did you encounter any issues with the media becoming hopelessly lodged in the hood hinge cracks?
When I blasted mine, it shot bits of aluminum oxide deep in to the hood hinge mechanism, and I haven't tried to clean them out yet. I'm just curious if this is something you ran in to a dealt with or not.

Hey Robroy, I used aluminum oxide also at first but had kind of mixed it with glass bead becasue I needed more last night and could not find any more alumium oxide. Both was 80 grit. Worked good, didn't hurt the metal and got rid of the rust and paint will.
Grit in the brackets will probably be an issue for me, but i will probably pressure wash them first before I paint them because they are getting the por-15 treatment. To be continued on that to see if the problem resolves or not. Let me know if you get it fixed.
