Provided the axle hasn't been changed you should be able to find your gear ratio here: http://www.fordification.com/data-1970.htm

Speaking of bumps and 360/390s were the Camper Specials the only models that came with the triple fuel tanks???? and this is off topic but as far as the actual camper special option what type of camper are we talking about exactly??? Someone made a comment to me and now thats got me thinking maybe my 1968 F100 Ranger might be a CS????

No triples from the factory but the dealer may have added an additional tank. It is my understanding that the only factory tanks are the in-cab tank and the auxiliary tank under the drivers side of the bed (hung off the frame).

The existence of factory auxiliary tanks does not mean it is a Camper Special nor does the lack of tanks. Also if I recall the F100 Camper Special stopped somewhere around 1967, maybe 1968 (the information is on this forum somewhere...). One surefire way to tell is to look under the truck, if it is a true Camper Special you will find a wire loom underneath the bed near the front of it that is capped off with a plug. This was for campers.

As for the type of camper - It was mainly about slide-ins which were just starting to get really popular in the late sixties.

OK. Sequoia has informed me that my rear is a 16 spline Dana 60. Now, how do I find the ratio? (without having to go out in the parking lot where it's 9000 freekin degree's and humid!)

I have a 68 parts f100 that has the side tool box. but only the one tank behind the seat. Was that an option? Otherwise the truck is a typical 360 3 spd column shift.

Didn't all CS's come with disk brakes up front?

I'm not sure about the disc brakes with Camper Specials, I've seen many all drum Camper Specials on this site but they have also been earlier years. My 1971 F250CS does indeed have power (dual diaphragm) disc brakes (which, by the way, are awesome brakes when you've got everything running right!).

A bottom of the line truck with no options would have only the in-cab tank and no tool box. A completely decked out truck would have the in-cab tank, a frame mounted auxiliary tank on the drivers side, and a tool box on the passenger side of the bed. In between there can be any combination of the above including no in-cab tank (rare option from what I understand, I know I've never seen it at wrecking yards).

There are 3 Dana 60's listed. The 38 is a 3:73. I assume that's it since the code for mine is 37.Eventually it will cool down some and I'll go out, jack it up and count the rotations.

Is this a good rear?

My CS has the discs and power assited brakes. The calipers are as big as my thighs. Last week I took it to a friend to balance the front wheels and there wasn't enough room between the caliper and rim to use sticky weights. It has Weld rims on it.

Are rotors easy to come by for these trucks?

When ordering front brake parts just tell them it's an F350 (The major parts houses don't realize that F250s got discs, the discs are the same as the F350s though).

When ordering rear brake parts go by the drums measurements (Drum diameter and shoe width) to make sure you get the correct parts.
