One hour air cleaner decal

Post by flyboy71 »

It was pouring rain today over my lunch hour so I tried my Autocad skills and made some air cleaner decal artwork for fun. My 302 decal had seen better days and the 360 reproduction I bought years ago looks cheesy. I made the checkerboard pattern a little bigger and nice and square and even and I found the same fonts as the original. I ran out of time to go back and correct the fill on the checkerboard so I can either do it in CAD as a hatch pattern or just import it into Photoshop and fill it that way. I can make it any CID I want, just need to retype it in the text box. I brought a copy home to size it up just to be sure I had it right.

Thats awsome! Can you color them as well? I might need some custom decals printed up in the future. Now I know who to call!

The 360 decal in the pic I bought from a vendor years ago. Its really poor quality IMO. I dont need it so its available if anyone wants it.

I can make mine 302, 360, 390 or whatever. All I need to do it edit the text and its changed.

I had made a 360 decal years ago in B.C. (before CAD) by putting my 360 cover in the photocopier and then hand sketched the checkerboards. It was ok but you could tell it was hand drawn. This one is soooo much better. To make the decal I photocopied it on orange paper. I can whip up a few if theres some interest.

Yepper! All I need to do is laminate it and apply double sided tape on the bottom.

Did a really quick edit of the decals. Filled the checkerboards and the color. Ill work on it more this week in photoshop. Quality is poor because its a screenshot copied into Paintbrush but you get the idea. Yeah I know I can probably buy one exactly like this but its fun just to play around with CAD and its still better than what was on my truck. Im just happy I located the same fonts Ford used.

The final version. I need to tweak the orange a bit since whats on the screen is brighter than what prints out. Different printers will print it a different shade also. Some transfer tape and clear film and Im all set.
