Header Gaskets 390

Post by leavittt »

I have a 390 with some RPM Edelbrock heads and Headman Headers. The original gaskets that came with the headers sealed fine-no problems. When I took the engine out, I used Headman replacement header gaskets. When I fired up the engine, there were quite a few annoying, small exhaust leaks. The holes for the ports in the gaskets are just a little too big to hit the machined surface on the headers exactly. I also tried some Edelbrock exhaust gaskets and they did the same thing. If you are really careful while centering the gasket, you can get most of the gasket surface to hit the machined surface on the headers but there are always a couple of leaks. There isn't much movement with the gaskets anyway. Does anyone know a good gasket that has the right sized ports for these headers?

Fel-pro 1442 should work but the seem to have the same port size as the Edelbrocks.
