engine compartment cleaning

Post by rd100 »

My new to me '70 F100 has buildup in the engine compartment and on some parts of the engine (a 302).

Is there a better way to clean this than another? Anyone have any suggestions?

I'd rather not get water/de greaser where it shouldn't be, but I'm not sure where it shouldn't be.

Castrol Purple stuff. Do NOT get it on the painted surfaces outside the engine bay. Spray, let soak for about 15 min. Rinse. Repeat if necessary.

simple green is good to remove grease also. but the purple stuff is better. it is really soapy when cleaning rental house [censored] grease.
