Rear of the axle gas tank

Post by cw4rdmn »

Anyone know if this gas tank would go under the bed of my truck where the spare tire would be?

If not can someone explain it to me?

Thanks

From this page:

Unfortunately, there really isn't any true bolt-on tank currently available for the '67-'72 pickups. Ford used a rear-mounted tank (mounted between the frame rails under the bed...pictured below) on the '73-later Ford 2WD pickups, but the frames are four inches wider from the back of the cab rearward. Because of this, they WON'T fit inside the '72-earlier frames.
