Re: duraspark 11
tommycaire,
There are already numerous theads on this sight related to the Duraspark II distributor. At the top of this page, just below the PayPal link there is a box called "Search..." type in "Duraspark" in that box and you will have direct access to EVERY Duraspark related thread at Fordification.com. That would be the quickest way for you to find your Duraspark related answers. If you are looking for a complete Duraspark II distributor to drop into an FE engine then I would suggest buying a remanufactured unit ($35.00 - $45.00) for a '75 or '76 F250 with the 360 or 390. This was the last year for the FE and they came from the factory with Duraspark II distributors. I would further suggest an ignition module from a '78 or '79 F250. This module will have a BLUE strain relief or plastic grommet where the wires enter the module body. These BLUE grommet ignition modules have the reputation of being the most reliable units. Stay away from the RED grommet units. They have a VERY BAD reputation for failure.
As always, Google is your friend and there is a TON of very specific info regarding Duraspark ignition systems waiting for you there.
Good luck with your project,
Dan

Re: duraspark 11
Thanks Dan,
Ok, so you say a '75 or '76 F250 for the FE motors. Those would be the Duraspark 1 setup. (As per the Bumpwiki link below, this was also an option on the 74 models.)
But, I have a 302 and others have the 300 6 banger, so I did a little looking around myself.
I found this …
http://www.fordification.com/bumpwiki/i ... -_Overview
Good info on Duraspark history.
And this…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duraspark.
The author mentioned that on a 1964 200/250 6 cylinder motors with a 5/16" oil pump driveshaft, that a '78 or '79 Fairmont distributor would be what to get. I wonder if it fits the 300 inch 6 cylinder the bumps have.
And by far the best info I found was this…
http://www.mre-books.com/sa69/sa69_8.html
A lot of real good informative on the ignition systems Ford has used over the years. I highly recommend giving it a read.
To summarize, any Ford from 1974 through 1985 may have what we need. The exceptions are too lengthy to repeat here. Check out the chart on the BumpWiki write up for details.
At least now we know where to start and stop looking, a ’74 to ’85 with the same motor.
After several hours of searching, I found this…
http://1bad6t.com/duraspark.html
It is a HOW-TO on wiring a Duraspark 2 up in an older points type car.
The author had a lot of Helpful Links…
http://1bad6t.com/helpfullinks.html
Some of the links I checked were dead, most were good, but still that is to be expected.
I hope we have been helpful and good luck.
