1967 stepside daily driver.

today i bought a fairly strait '67 stepper from a guy who was going to build it for his wife but she lost interest. no engine , breaks need redoing ect but i have all of that stuff to transplant over from my 72 LWB. enough with the talk and on with the pictures.







this shows the side spare tire mount and the dent in the fender for it.



i like the bumper



the cab is fairly clean. there are a few holes in the floor board but nothing i can't fix quickly



as you can see there is rust but most of it is only on the surface. also, the paint looks like it may be salvageable. for those of you keeping count, this is bump number 3.

for keeping my interested.

sorry for the double post, i was having some funky connection problems.

anyways, back on topic. polish is awesome. when we were unloading the truck from the dolly, we were leaving hand prints all over the truck. you can probably see this in the above photos. this intrigued us and got us thinking "will this paint clean up?" yes, yes it did.





what do you guy's think? i've been all of it once with meguiar's ultimate compound and alot of the drivers side and hood a second time.

The milky layer is just the paint oxidizing. Once that is gone the real paint shines through. I have shined up hundreds old paint jobs just like that one.

Makes all the work worth while.

yea, i'm please. we've done alot of work on it up to this point. we pulled the front right wheel and noticed the king pins were wobbly so we decid3ed to pull the front end out of the 72 since it's been rework completly and stick it under the 72. we've also got a new throw out bearing, master cylinder (they changed them between then and 69 ) new radiator, new break lines for the front, new wheel cyinders, new shoes, and it came with a new set up tires. well, at least ones that havn't seen many miles. we're half way through the front end swap and half way through the break change.

alright. we've got the front end changed, the front brakes are hooked up(still have the back ones to check), the engine is in, the battery is in, clutch is working, shifter is smoooth, and the drivers door closes right now. we still have to flush the tank out, install the gas line, finish up the wiring, get a horn, find some tail lights (maybe i can find the ones off of the other truck.), mirrors need to be acquired, back shocks need changing..... that's about it. oh, and the radiator is still out of the truck. hopefully i can finish it today.

back with some more updates. we've gotten the differential switched out and most of the bakes hooked up. the steel line under the truck blew out when we were bleeding the brakes and now we have to get a replacement (the only lines that we can't use off of the 72 LWB). the newer rear end also has wider brakes that match the front end we put in it. hard to imagine that those narrow shoes would stop that truck . We also picked up a new set of shocks for the back because the other set of new shocks we have don't mount right (a lot of things about the 67 are different.....) . since we had the stock wheels off, i decided to try out some of the others i had laying around. which ones do you think i should use?

but in all seriousness we're close to starting it. i have to pick up a rear seal for the tranny and some odds and ends and then we're cranking it.

Wished i had known this with both the 77 nova i had when i was 18 and my first f100.


The nova was GM Fawnskin(copper metalic) and milky i blcoked and shot a low grade rattlecan that looked half decent metalic cobalt with ghost flames. but a revived original paint job woulda looked nicer.

And the first f100 was tu-ton Metalic Seqouia brown over wimbeldon white. Also very faded. Agan did the painting but this time without the prep looked worse than the nova. So factory paint woulda been nicer.
