Header Question

i have a really nice pair of Hooker Headers for my 390. the down side is that they are covered in rust from the many years that they have been on the block. my question is when i was doing the tear down on the start of my restoration i cut the exhuast pipes about 4" behind where the pipe connects to the header what i am trying to do is get the left over pipe off the header so that i weld a flange on the header for the new exhuast setup that im gonna run? and what is the best way to clean the rust off of the headers?

A flap disc for your grinder works great and it doesnt take off hardly any material.

I use a bead blaster on a low pressure setting.

Wire brush,drill with a wire cup attached,and a twelve pack for your buddy thats gonna help you.
