A properly built C4 will take anything you can throw at it. I don't know that I'd put a stock C4 back there, though.
Might be OK, but.........

Re: Engine Swap Question
I have a dumb question possibly. I thought the FMX and C4 were different trannys. I was corrected by a buddy of mine when I asked if he had any C4 out of any mid to late 70's LTDs with 351/400m. He said they had either a C6 or the FMX. Is the FMX a newer C4. Like GM did with there (weaker)metric trannys of the same year?

Re: Engine Swap Question
FMX's were used in various vehicles from '68-'81
C4's were used from '64-'81 when they were replaced by the C5 (which was basically a C4 with a lock-up converter).
FMX's were kind of like a medium duty trans. They also had a weak spot in the case at one of the band anchors, where if you beefed up the valve body, would shift hard enough to crack the cast iron case at the band anchor.

Re: Engine Swap Question
Ok so the fmx is ruled out for being behind a beefed up big block.
