I know why my heater core valve doesn't work

Because the PO cut the cable.

I started to gut the interior so I can install the new firewall cover. Looks like I have something else to fix first. :x
The cable must have broken, so the PO just clamped it down HARD to the support bracket. Now I need to find a new cable, and find out how it connects to the lever.
On a positive note, the radio mounting ears are intact! :woohoo:
They haven't even been bent back! :woohoo:
I am going to fix these things as I find them, and do this job right, so I only have to do it once.

I have found these cables always break, they get rusty, or the valve gets rusted and someone pulls real hard, snap.
It is easy to replace, get the new cable, it just hooks into the adjuster arm, then is clamped down once you adust for slack. Pick up a new firewall seal while you are at it!

If I remember correctly the end of the cable is just a double bend and just slips into the hole in the lever. Get a new cable if you can. I had to fab mine due to a lack of funds from an old lawnmower throttle cable and a propane torch........what a PITA.

Where do you get these from? I'm gonna be needing a new one!
I saw one in the NPD catalog, but I don't like the idea of paying $30 for it!
