I took the truck out for its first high speed test, 55-70 mph, it failed miserably. I got up to 55 when its started hitching a little, which continued all the way to work. After work I got about a mile down the road and up to 45 when it started hitching again, I kept going till I could pull over, I see that my first of three fuel filters, a see through one, between the pump inlet and the tank, is damn near bone dry, but I have gas in the tank. So its starts and idles decent till you give it gas. I limped it home, checked the filter agian, still dry, let it sit for 30 minutes checked again, filter was full of gas.
So now I have gone and bought another filter, just to have a new one, I had a siphon effect on the tank side of the hose when I took it off. However after I start it back up it is not filling back up, motor running or not. My pump is a new stock mechanical, cant believe it would break already.
Any ideas, thanks!
I can test the pump but I need time and patiance, not something I have alot of right now

Is your fuel tank/gas cap vented?

Re: Vapor lock or bad pump?
My guess is a bad pump. I had alnost the same thing happen to me. AutoZone pump only had about 500 miles and it would dp the same thing as yours. I hav a clear fuel filter between the pump and tank and it would be empty. Took the pump back to Auto Zone for exchange and they told me even thou it had only 500 miles on it they would not replace it because it had a one year waranty and I had it 14 months. Not happy at all !!!. I put a electric pump on it from NAPA and it has been fine. You might have junk in the tank pickup or in the line and the fuel pump is sucking it up amd cloging the line.

Re: Vapor lock or bad pump?
Ok, after replacing the pump and not getting any improvement, I started looking at other possibilities, which led me to popping off the dist cap and finding the condesor broken from its bracket and a hole burned through the casing, and black powder stuff oozing out. Not good considering it also has about 20 miles on it. So I will replace it tomorrow, the whole distributor, since its under warranty.
Hopefully this will solve my problem!

Good job! Excellent catch.
Problems related to condensers have caused holes in my walls, bumps on my head and hands full of hair pulled from my scalp.
Not to mention a lot of wasted time.
