stock carb spacer question
my 360 originally had a 2bbl carb...i put a 4bbl with the edelbrock intake...i remove the carb spacer(2bbl) and blocked off the places where coolant hoses were that ran to the spacer...i can get a 4bbl spacer with cooling ports and pcv, but first i wanted to know if these spacers are neccessary and if not where can i route my pcv tube to(carb maybe)?

Re: stock carb spacer question
those spacers were put on the trucks for one reason. they kept the carbs from icing up in the winter time. if you dont have much winter then you may not need the carb icing problem fixed. but a spacer is good to keep under it to keep heat soak away from the cabr in the summer time. so you could find a spacer that uses the pcv outlet and no water if you wanted. or just not use the water outlets if a spacer came with them.

Re: stock carb spacer question
your pcv Goes to the valve cover on the passenger side to the intake manifold below the carb on the back

Re: stock carb spacer question
i guess you could put it to the intake vacuum. there are plugs in the intake you can take out and use for the pcv hose.

Re: stock carb spacer question
What kind of carburetor did you get? If you got a Holley then there's a vacuum port n the back of it you can use. I think Edelbrocks have them too but I think they're in the front. The Edelbrock guys can verify that though.cjroddam wrote:if i dont put a stock spacer and just use my basic 1" spacer from autozone that doesnt have any ports on it, where should i hook up my pcv?

Re: stock carb spacer question
Absolutely. It's just manifold vacuum. That's where my pvc hose is one mine.cjroddam wrote:ive got the holley 4160...it does have a large vacuum port on the back...if i can use that then thats what ill do

Re: stock carb spacer question
Though this has been solved.. to clarify for prospective edel boys.. my 1406 600CFM (and all others in the performer series to my knowledge) has a full vacuum port on the front AND back that can be used for PCV. For simplicity I used the port on the front when I first hooked mine up.. then later I swapped to the rear and plugged the front for a cleaner, simpler look. You can see the ports in this pilfered pic.
The little ports on either side at front are:
Left-- Ported Vac for distributor.
Right-- Manifold vac for gauge.
Using this carb bolted to a 4-into-2 spacer to my stock 2bbl intake worked just fine and never froze and the truck started at below freezing temps without fault. Don't know what'd happen if I got a little water in my fuel though.
