dynomax header install on 360...help please
i bought a set of the dynomax headers full length (these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLK-8 ... =WLK-85041). i did some dry fitting with them the other day before i bolted back up my stock manifolds...i could not get either header in place from underneath the truck or from under the hood...what all will i have to do/remove to get the on the easiest and fastest??

Hey cjroddam
To install headers on a 360/390, you have to remove the bolt going through the motor mount and jack the engine up a couple of inches to get the clearance.
It seems like you also have to take the starter loose, then slide the header in place then rebolt the starter.
Make sure that you disconnect the battery first...

What steering gear box do you have? If it is Bendix then you will have to remove the starter and jack up the engine a bit, if it is the ford style then they should bolt right up with little adjustments.

No matter what steering box you have, The engine is going to have to come off the towers a few inches before they'll slide into place. Fun, i know. Don't start them if it looks like it might rain! Been there done that!

This has been my experience with headers... that's why I no longer have them on my '68.sideoilerfe wrote:No matter what steering box you have, The engine is going to have to come off the towers a few inches before they'll slide into place. I went back to stock exhaust manifolds, but have Flowmaster mufflers and pipes... They were already on the '71and were so new that they hadn't even changed color yet.
I haven't noticed any difference in performance or gas mileage, it still get 10 mpg no matter what I do... empty I get 10, loaded with 1700 lbs of camper I get 10 as well.

I haven't had near the problems with exhaust leaks as I had with the headers...
I fought with theaders for several years before going back to manifolds, I'm glad I did
