Well, I posted a thread yesterday in the steering portion of the forum wondering if I could use the power steering setup from a 79 F-250 4X2 that i happen to have aquired a couple of months ago... The 79 F-250 has a 460cid in it.. I got one answer from somone, but today the 302 in my 68 just went south..
SO...
Can i swap the 460 into the 68?
I know there's folks on this site that have 460's in their bumps.. any opinions about the swap or advise as to what i should maybe do? THANK YOU!

Yes but you will need different engine stands. Not sure what else. DO a search in the engine forum and you should find a bunch of these conversions.

engine stand transmission or bellhousing if it a manual transmission and different exhaust. if you change the trans you may need a different length driveshaft. you can take everything from t he 79 and drop it into your truck. except maybe the driveshaft. who knows.it depends on what transmissionis init. slip yoke type or bolt on yoke type. lenght may vary between the two of them.

Thanks, yeah i haven't checked out the trannys or the shaft yet.. the 79 and my 68 are both automatic 3 speeds, would be sweet if I can use that same shaft thats already in my 68 being that its brand new... and my current transmission period, the 79 tranny slips pretty good..

You will have to swap transmissions for sure. The 460 and the 302 have different bolt patterns.
