Lead Substitute for a 68?
Should I add a lead substitute in yhe gas on my old 68 240 6? Would it help or hurt? Is the engine realy designed to run on todays fuel?

unless its been rebuilt i dont think you need it. and if it was rebuilt were hardened valve seats put in when the head was redone? that shoul dbe doen to protect the head from today unleaded gasoline. has it been giving you troubles?

Don't worry about it. It'll run fine. The engines were designed for lead not lead substitute anyway. It's 41 years old. If it has ran this long (15+ years with no lead or substitute), it'll be fine.
