meaning of letter "S" on intake manifold

Post by george worley »

My intake manifold has the letter"S" on it near the casting number of C6AE-9425C. I decoded the casting number but can't find anything about the letter "S". The original 2 barrel manifold had the letter "T" on it. does that stand for truck. The engine that manifold "T" was on is a 68 390. Thanks in advance.

s and t are about the sameas far as 2bbl manifolds go. the s might have been a car manifold. i dont know for sure. the t manifold i think was a truck manifold. i could be completely wrong.

Not much really,

It is considered slightly better than a "T" and may be a slightly higher rise.

If it is a 4V it isn't awful...

The S is for "sack", because you'll be tripping over yers after you try to lift that intake :D

As I said it isn't a bad intake, but it also isn't "high performance".

I don't know that any one really knows what the "S" means, many try to link it to the "S" code 390 but that wasn't the only engine that used it. Could just as easily been because "S" comes before "T".
