Engine miss

Post by coop »

F250 390 1970 I just got my truck running again, i changed the carb to a 4 bbl performer edlebrock, cam and intake. Everything seems to be working fine the timing is set at about 13 bftdc. The problem I am having is that there is a engine miss sounds like "buh buh buh" it is worse when the engine is cold once it does warm up it is not as bad you can notice it at idle or if you bring it up to around 1000 rpm it is intermident. I really dont notice it when driving and the truck seems to have good power. Could it be a bad plug wire vac leak? any suggestions? Thanks :hmm:

13 bftdc

That sounds a bit much. Try advancing a bit. Mines set at 8 btdc.

Well i did adjust the timing to 8 BTDC and it seems to run a little better but the darn miss is still there. I adjusted the idle mixture it didnt seem to make a difference either. The truck is running rich to the point where you can smell the exhaust while sitting at a stop. Could the carb have a fuel leak it is a new Edlebrock 4bbl 600. Could it be a bad cylinder, I had the heasd rebuilt when I installed the intake, carb and cam. I'm a little confused
