What is this piece???
In a box full of random engine parts I found this little guy. Anyone recognize it? I can't figure out what it is!

1971 F-100 Custom 302 C4
1962 F-100 Custom Cab 292 3 on the tree, restoring, probably gonna sell it I guess. Love the engine.
1972 Maverick 2 DR 250 I-6, C4, restoring.
1978 F-150 always wanted one of these too. 300, 3+1 OD trans, pretty well preserved, working on it
1985 F-350 460 crew cab, rough as a cob
All these are southern Arizona desert trucks, little to no rust, but the sun takes its toll,ha.

That's one thing that I thought but it looks like it is an internal piece. It looks like oil has constantly been in contact with it. Kind of like how that splash tray underneath the intake manifold looks after you've wiped it off. I dunno

It is a blue Scripto marker. Tough to find alone usually you have to buy the 5 pack just to get the blue one.

I agree,
distributor hold down.
blue sharpie (I've never seen a light blue one, although I admit to being a bit sheltered)
compact disc sleeve.

Re: What is this piece???
the smallblock and 460 dist hold down clamps are the same when you look at them. i dont think there is much difference in them. the fe type is completely different. i am unsure about the 6cyl type it maybe similar.
