coolant coming out of exhaust

Post by caraber »

i am looking at buying a parts vehicle for the engine, interior, and suspension but the owner says that he parked it because one day he started it and there was coolant coming out of the exhaust. he believes that the block is cracked but other people whom i have talked to say that it is probably just a head gasket. i was just wondering what your opinions were and should i purchase it knowing the possible problems?

It could be either. The more common culprit would be the gasket.

its more than likely a head gasket or a cracked head. if the block was cracked it would crack on the outside ifrst i would think. ive never seen a ford engine crack and let water out the exhaust. but it could happen i guess.
