Engine Swap
I was wondering how hard it would be to swap an inline 6 for a 302 V8. My truck is a 1969 Ford F100, I know I have the room but I would have to change the motor mounts right? Any help is appreciated,Thanks!

Re: Engine Swap
Wouldn't be too hard:

The bell housing's the same, you'd have to change the wiring around a little and be creative with the radiator hoses.
Personally I'd rather have the I6, but that's just my

Re: Engine Swap
for a 302 or 351 use the 302/ 351 mounts. if puttingin a 6 cyl or fe use the 6cyl /fe perches.

Re: Engine Swap
Thats what i thought but In the link above it says>>>However, you COULD have driveline angle problems, due to dropping the engine 1" but not dropping the transmission a similar amount. Is this true?? or will it be fine. Thanks.

Re: Engine Swap
the link above is correct but i think you read it wrong. the 302 and the 351 use the same perch. the fe and 6 cyl use the same perch. if you put the 302/351on the fe/6cyl perches that gives you the extra or minus 1 inch. or the other way around for the other engine swap. you put ketchup in the ketchup bottle and mustard in the mustard bottle.if you keep everyhting matching you dont have to work on it for weeks on end and worry about soemthing failing later on. i hope that clears it up.

Re: Engine Swap
that depends ont he bellhousing you have to use with the 4spd. the 6 cyl has the same bolt pattern for the bellhousing as the 302 so if thats what you are doing it will work fine.

Re: Engine Swap
make sure you have the bracket and bearing that holds on the Z-bar for the clutch for the 302. The I6 ises a stud in the block.
I think I have one of the brackets in the garage if you don't have one.
