300 rebuild
hey fellas, been a while since i've been on here, but almost time to go home . anyway i have decided to keep the 300 in the 67 and put the 429 in the 71. i would like to know if there are any books or manuals like chiltons or haynes that will help with the rebuild.

Re: 300 rebuild
I bought a ford shop manual off ebay and it covers all of the engines they made (6 cylinders, 8 cylinders, diesels, etc...) with a lot of detail and pictures, specs, etc... MUCH better than chiltons or haynes. I got a '68 manual for $43. It is about 5" thick, it's huge.
Here is a link to one identical to what i got:
Ebay Manual
Note that I have no relation to the seller whatsoever.
There are also some 67 and 71 manuals on there but they are quite a bit more expensive for some reason. The 68 would do the job for you. I think that the only thing the chiltons or haynes are good for is recycling. Just search for '67 ford truck shop manual' if you want one for your particular year, although the engine info should apply to all the years you need with either the 67, 68, or 71 manuals.

Re: 300 rebuild
I just used the kit from O'Reileys. Make sure you inspect the pistons before you pay for it. I have had some kits that have mix mached ones that where a few oz off. If you don't want the pistons that come with it then just have them get another kit and swap them around.
Qualitys is good, just check everything over.

Re: 300 rebuild
The Oreileys or NAPA would be good kits. Good to double check as mentioned. Saves trouble in many ways. You could also order different pistons or cam and add them to your kit, if the parts house will let you(most will).
67 F100, 300(Offy intake, Edelbrock 500, 274*/.518" lift cam, heddder, duraspark & Summit CD ign), 4spd, power steering swap, front disc and hydroboost.
