Green '69 Ranger
My trucks were given to me by a co-worker, they were both leftover parts trucks, both '69 F-100 Long-beds, one was a green ranger, the other was a base (naked) truck, both were somewhat rusty, after looking at everything I decided to build the green one (Ranger), but use the front sheet-metal and bed from the blue one. When I was getting started I noticed that the 17" steering wheel was uncomfortably close, and with manual steering this would require more than just a smaller wheel, so after looking through the junk yards I decided to graft a Chevy half-ton front-end to it, before I got to that I decided to cut it down to a short-bed, I plan to run a T-bird 4.6/Auto, and have gotten the motor mounts fabbed up, engine/tranny removed and everything finish welded, I had a '77 Town Car 9" with 5-lug, 5"circle wheel pattern (to match the Chevy front), and it was wider than the stock rearend, which made it a perfect fit. I have some 17" Jeep 5-spoke wheels on the rearend, and I have the other two but I'd have to space them out @2" in order to clear the hubs, well I guess I can't have it all. I need to replace the LH front cab support and I just received it from LMC last week, so now I need to find the time to install it, then re-install the engine/tranny then I get to start on the computer and wiring. BTW I have a few other projects going on as well, "31 Model A coupe, (Rat-Rod), Truckster (blue '69 cab cut down to Model A truck cab dimensions) with a home built chassis, '83 F-350 Crew (single wheel), '87 Mustang, and '95 Isuzu Trooper (hit in rear, I'm fixing for my daughter to drive), right now the Ranger and the Model are my top priorities (project-wise). All of my pics are on page 9.

Re: Green '69 Ranger
Do you think the 4.6 will have enough oomph for a heavy truck?? I hear alot of guys complaining about the lack of low end on the modular motors?
My in-laws have one in a 02 F-150 crew cab & it seems to run pretty good. Its no rocket, but then its no slug either.

I'm not really aiming for a Hot Rod, my wife has a 07 SuperCrew with a 4.6 and it runs like you describe your in-laws truck, I have an 07 F-150 V6 regular cab/auto and it's adequately quick (not fast), anyway I'm just after a truck I can drive anywhere, and let it sit for a few weeks at a time and expect it to start right up. I have a company truck (04 GMC 3500) and my personal truck does a lot of sitting around.papabug71 wrote:Do you think the 4.6 will have enough oomph for a heavy truck??
