Carb Help

I just purchased a 1965 F-100 that has a chevy 350 with an edelbrock carb on in. Wasn't running properly so I pulled the carb and rebuilt it. Carb was a little hesitant at WOT originally and the problem has now increased dramatically after rebuild. When I start off everything works great then when I get up to around 40-50 mph it starts to bog down and tries to stall out on me. Fuel Filter is brand new and I dont seem to have any vaccum leaks. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

i would check the float level. also, since you just got the truck you don't know if the fuel pump is any good, and that my be causing the high end fade.

I know exactly what the problem is. A Ch*vy motor in a Ford.

chevy motor wasn't my choice at all. The float level was set at 15/16 when rebuilt, as for the fuel pump, I haven't checked. I will do a pressure test when I get home today and let you know.

fuel pressure is at 6.5 psi at idle and 4.5 psi at WOT. With engine shut off I don't seem to have any fuel pumping from thetwo small jets on the fron top of the carb. Accelerator pump causing the problems??????

You say the float was set to 15/16". However, that's the float drop measurement, not the float level measurement. The float should be set to 7/16". I'll be that's your problem...the floats are set too low.

You are correct sir, I rechecked the float measurements and I reset them. When I pulled the top of the carb off, one bowl was dry and the other was half full. Runs like a dream now, thanks for the help.

Your next task is to find a nice FE motor to stick into your Ford and to get rid of that Ch*vy abortion.
