240 header clearance

Post by wickedinhere »

I was test fitting my header today and it looks like i have a clearance issue with the frame. I think i heard of someone having to notch the frame but i cant remember. Its a headman header here are some pics the header needs to come down about 2 inches in the front to line up with the first bolt hole.

I notched the frame a little and the header fell right in. You think headman would correct this problem i also am going to have do some trimming on the alt bracket.

I put a set of long tubed split headers on my 300-I6 and they had to cut off the collectors and weld the pipes straight together because of a frame clearance issue. Seems like they don't want you to put headers on 6's.

I have a set I pulled from a 77 and they also woul;d fit in my 92 F250 but I would rather run the efi manifolds.
Great ideas have always encounter violent opposition from mediocre minds.

I too had to notch the frame to get my Headmans to fit. Tightening all the bolts with the stock manifold is a special treat too!
