Did you finish this? How did it turn out? I have thought about this myself. None of the pictures are working any longer, do you have a photo album link? Thanks, Ben

Re: wood floor conversion in a 68 swb fleetside
I really like how your truck is coming out. I have a '67 shortbed and I want to get rid of the in cab tank, but theres not as many options for a shortbed except a in bed tank, or something custom underneath. And I saw that the tank you used was a mooneyes 20 gallon tank, I didn't see a 20 gallon on thier site, just up to 5 gallon. Was it like a special order from them? And also I was wandering where you got the wood bed kit from?

Re: wood floor conversion in a 68 swb fleetside
The tank is custom ordered from a speed shop I found a while back. I wanted to order another one for a 49 studebaker truck I wired but the number don't exist anymore. Im not sure if I'm still going to use it or not I also have stainless tank under the bed too. We made the wood flush with the floor so we had to make 2 new center crossmembers, modify the front crossmember and make a back ledge for the rear of the boards to rest on. As far as time envoled we have posibly 30-35 hrs tied up in it. Thats drilling out all the spot welds holding the steel floor and center crossmembers, making all new braces and crossmembers, fitting the boards and strips. Not for your average do-it-yourselfer I would say.

Underbed tanks are possible under short beds too, just like longbeds!1967AceStroker wrote:I really like how your truck is coming out. The 73-77 rear mount hi-boy tank is super hard to find. When you call places that sell replacement tanks they don't have them.

I did make an end cap piece for the rear to cover up the edge and finish it off but its not in the pic. Its painted green also. I originaly had one chromed but didn't like it so it was at the chromer when I took that pic.

Yeah, my fabrication skills are limited. I don't have a good welder or a plasma. All I have access to is a cutting torch
