The World's Shortest Fairy Tale

Post by Thunderfoot »

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles
and went fishing and hunting and played golf a lot and
drank beer and scotch and left the toilet seat up and
farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

This puts the whole world into perspective, in a very clear way. I never seem to have a hard time finding reasons never to get married.

There is only one reason to get married, the right woman. It is kind of like owning a rental property...some people find great renters and never have any problems. For others it is one nightmare after another. My wife happened to find me when I was 15 and impressionable. Overall I would say the happy times outweigh the other times. But I would not recommend marriage just for the sake of it.

After a while you learn little tricks about how to get along. For instance my wife is much more likely to let me buy a tool if it is blue, her favorite color. I just got a Campbell Hausfeld compressor. I checked it out online and then took her to Lowes to look at it. She thought it was pretty. The red Huskies at Home Depot would have been a much harder sell. She hates yellow so yellow tools are out of the question. So when we go look at welders I will be looking at Millers not Lincolns. This will greatly increase the chances of a successful transaction.

Overall marriage has worked for me. I do not necessarily believe it is a superior life style. I think I just got lucky. Or maybe I didn't really have a choice. I am not quite sure now that I think about it how I got in this situation. What was I thinking? Oh well, I think I will go play with my blue tools. :woohoo:
