I also used the POR-15 tank sealing kit, and it seems to have worked, although I haven't run the truck with the finished tank yet.
I was a little surprised with how much work it actually was to use the POR-15 kit, since the tank needs to be treated and cleaned so many times. It wasn't easy to do it solo since it was awkward to swish the tank around, and it took most of two days of messing around (for me).
To get the tank dry after washing it out with water, I placed an electric hot air gun with the barrel sticking down the filler neck and sending unit holes (alternating between them) for about five hours. I also hooked up an electric fan blowing in the tank and left it overnight. It's surprisingly tough to get the tank truly bone dry after filling it up with water! And the POR-15 kit demands a bone dry tank.
