Re: OT: Welder questions
Between the 2 of those I'd opt for the hobart myself. If you're going to be doing sheet metal body work the gas is the way to go. Flux core will work it just gives a dirty appearance, it works great if your outside though.

Re: OT: Welder questions: Update 2/2/09
Just an update on the welder shopping process...
I just called the guy about the Hobart 120 mig welder...
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/tls/1017042692.html
It's still available, and comes with the tank, but the tank is empty...
It's about 100 miles from me, but the guy is willing to meet me somewhere in the middle for $400
I saw this Dayton as well... but haven't called on it 'cause I wanted see what ya'all thought...
I've never heard of the brand before
The price with tank would be $320.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/tls/1017016689.html
There is also this one listed...
Wire Feed Welder w/MIG kit Lincoln WeldPak 3200HD w/2 Welders masks, Gloves, 2 spools of flux core wire, slag hammer Avail $325.00
I sent him an email asking about it...
Of all of them, this is the set up I'd really like to get... It's exactly what I want, but I don't have the extra $200 bux.

I just emailed this guy and asked him if I could give him $400 now and work out something for the $200 balance.
I'm sure I could have the rest by next payday...

Just an update...
This morning, I figured out a way to pay the guy the whole $600, for the New Hobart setup that was posted on Portland CL...
I emailed him first thing this morning, that I could come down to Portland and get it tomorrow after work.
I just got an email, that someone bought it morning...
Dang, that's my life story, a day late and a few dollars short...
