Oil-less compressor

Post by Merlin68F100 »

While draining the tank on my 10+ year old Craftsman 5hp 25 gal compressor I asked myself is there really such a thing as an oil free compressor? I have never added, changed oil. I am wondering if I might want to. It still works fine. It is making some new noises that have caused me to start looking into a new and improved unit.

i would check it. and or add oil or just change it. all motors need the oil changed once in a while.

I took the shroud off last night for the first time. There is a cam on the shaft of the motor that runs a small piston pump. No oil or place to put any. I did find the 10+ year old air filter, or what is left of it. I ordered a few on-line last night. That might explain why the inside of my air tank is looking like a mud puddle.
