new cherry picker

i got a used cherry picker off of craigslist last night. i got it and a engine load leverler for 100.00. it is a excaliber. i think it was a great deal. it has a 2 ton capcity it is storable. which means the legs come off for self storage. it also came with a brand new ram on it from harbour frieght. we will see how long that lasts. i made a count while driving back home last night. i have to use it 6 times right now. so it will get some work right away maybe tonight. i doubt that i will use the load leverler though. im not stabbing any engines. just taking them out and moving them around. i have two that i have to deleiver. no make that three. one goes to rjewekes this weekend. i will get some pics when it gets light out and i remember.

i got it out and tested it tonight. what a pain in the back to move a fe through dirt and gravel with it by yourself. pick it up push engien away fromt he picker towards the garage. let it down move picker cloer to engine pick it back up push engine closer to garage let i t down move picker again. 20 ft about an hour or more to move it by myself. here are some pics of it before i used it tonight. part of the time it took me to move it included splitting the engine and transmission apart. which that wasnt very hard.

that is a pain to use. i have helped others with plywood and that is a different story when the wheels hit the end and dont go up onto the next piece. maybe some concrete would be better. ha ha. like i will ever see any of that around this house.

when me and my dad pulled my FE we had the cherry picker in dirt in the backyard and then had to get it through the yard to the main garage, so we hooked a strap up to the lawn mower and towed it up to the house

Well, that would be one way to do it!

It looks like you could use some tubular steel to fit inside the legs of the hoist and mount some larger pneumatic tires, kinda like outrigger wheels. I have seen this done with some rotisseries and they roll well over grass or gravel.

thas a good idea about the pnuematic tires on it. i have some riding mowers that could donate the spindles and tires.
