302 engine perches
hey guys im really glad i ran across this site, ive found alot of useful information on here..heres what i have, ive recently aquired a '69 f-100 with the 240/c4 combo, the engine runs fine but its getting a little aged so ive pondered the thought of either finding a 300 inline or a decent little 302 the only problem is that i need the engine perches for the 302 and i cant find anything around here..ive tried all the salvage yards, obsolete ford in oklahome city no one has them....what can i do? i really would like to have the 302 since the little truck will just be a cruiser so anything you guys could think of pass it my way!

Re: 302 engine perches
to find the correct perches you need to find a 69-77 truck that has a 302 or 351 in it. i have some that came out of a 78 with a 351m in it. they arent exactly the same but they can work.

If you haven't already seen it:

IMO if you are going to swap engines do either a 300 (a 300 EFI would be cool) or an FE. 360 FE/ C6 combos are plentiful in the pull a parts around here at least.

Re: 302 engine perches
thank you for the replies, sometimes it takes me a couple of days to read them as i drive a truck for a living so im gone a couple of days a week..if i didnt already have an '85 f-150 with the 300 inline i would definatly keep it a six,i love the ford 300 inline six.. but i want to make this into something that is kindof zippy around town because there are alot of chevy guys around here that trash fords with their souped up chevys and i want to build something that will give them a run for their money..im beginning to think that im the only ford guy in town! when i was in high school i had a '76 f-100 with a hot little 302 and i ended up getting rid of it so i kinda want to make this one in its shadow if that makes any sense...so the 351 "m" engine perches will work? i know that in mid '69 they drilled the holes for windsor engines and according to the vin decoder my truck was built sometime in march of '69 is that late enough for pre drilled holes? if those mounts will work id buy them off of you if you wernt going to use them..thankyou

well the 351m from 78 and up will work if you drill all new holes i think. from 69-77 are the perches you want to find. those are the easiest to use. i dont know when the mid year change for the 302 was.

heres a pic of the late 69 with all the holes drilled in it. this pic is valid for the 69-77 trucks. i also went out to find the perches but i cant find them tonight. so i will have to look for them this weekend. and i do not know where i put them now. that is not like me to forget things like that.

since i have had these i havent had any responces until this week. so far eveyone has found other stands locally. but today aloan i have ahd three inquiries about them. i have to go from first come to first served on these. one guy will let me know tomorrow i will send the other guy a pm aftter that. if he doesnt want them then it is to you. i wil pm you if no one else wants them. i wish i knew where i could find two more sets right now. that seems to be the way it always works out for me though.
