I hate to admit it, but old bumpside brush trucks give me wood! LOL!! That is one stout looking rig you got. Out here in the sticks we use to see them all the time, but now the departments are slowly getting rid of them.
Most likely the reason they had to get rid of it is because after 9-11, Congress passed a bill (forget the name) but it gave the volunteer fire depts. money to upgrade equipment. The catch is they HAD to upgrade, but the gov. paid for it.
Patiently waiting for more pics!!!

When I was a kid. my town had some pretty bad-a$$ International 3/4 ton brush trucks from the '60's. I haven't seen one of them for more than 10 years now. One did show up on ebay a while ago. Those old 4x4's are cool. I'd love to get one of those NAPCO Duallies.
I'm also looking forward to more pictures.

Good news. I'm legal now. Finally got the paperwork in order to get it registered. Plus just got it inspected today. Dang that thing uses the gas. So what, its a thrill to drive and answer questions of people that walk up. I'm sure you all KNOWWUTIMEAN. Took some updated pics, but my niece in college borrowed my camera/computer cord. Have to wait untill she brings it back or I remember to pick one up at Wallyworld.
I also spoke to the guy who rebuilt the engine. He told me it wasn't a total rebuild. They just replaced the heads. Seems as though they had blown a hose and it overheated and cracked a head. He said he did inspect both top and bottom and everything looked good. Plus replaced the freeze plug, from what I've heard is prone to rust out.
Like I said before, I'm not a mechanic so didn't really understand all of what he told me. But willing to learn. And most definately willing to work on it.
After talking to a body shop guy that I use regularly, I realize that I can't afford to get a professional paint job on it. So I was thinking about just spraying it myself with some Rustolium. Any ideas. I'm planning on a flat black. I'm guessing that I'll need to sand with some very vine paper. But the painted lettering on the doors will probably need to be taken down a little more. I've used the industrial Rustolium in the past for tools, chains, and on the tractor and think its pretty good.
I finally found a Chilton. Its not a shop manual though. Its a Repair & Tune-Up Guide. Not what I was really looking for but it'll help. Got it at http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/ for $36.
Also since I last visited with you guys. I cut off the brush guard rising off the bumper. It looks much better now. I changed the rear differential oil. Its holding so far. LOL. Got the windows tinted. Painted both of the doors to cover up the Sanford and Son lookalike I had as a result of the crap job I did to cover up the VFD painted emblems. I also found in the manual that it does call for 6 qts of engine oil. I put 5.75 and it is right at the full mark. I also changed the coolant out. I had no idea how long that stuff had been in there.
Next is plugs and wires. As well as headers and dual exhaust.
You're so right man. I have the problem of them not being the right size. The site keeps telling me size limits on KB and pixels and stuff. It took forever just to get the avatar and the one pic I did get on. I've been working with the photobucket website and on dial up it takes forever and I haven't really figured out how to do it yet. Kind of got lucky with the two I have. I'll keep trying though. Its a headache when you don't know what you're doing.
Download this free resizing application. http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm
With it you can re size the pictures with your computer rather than online so won't have to deal with the slower connection. Once you make the pictures less than 800x600 you can upload them to photobucket quicker (because they will be smaller files) or you can attach them to your post here on Fordification. It easy to use and FREE too. Try it.
