^&*(() electronic ignition
Soo my 83 with the 460 has no spark. I presume the module in the dizzy is good. I tried another coil and still no go. The only thing i can think of is either a bad ground strap or the control module on the fender. I even tried running a wire from the battery to the coil and jumping it and still no go.
Any idears?

duraspark? control module? just a guess. those modules can be checked at the parts stores i think. i love my points.

The dizzy if you have a multimeter will get a voltage on one wire from the module on the fender and get another signal sent back as the dizzy turns. You need to check the connectors and the wires for those signals. Or you can buy parts that are not needed. There are plenty of Duraspark diagrams if you do a web search.

You can check the pickup coil in the dist. One wire should be a ground and between the other 2 you should get about 1 volt dc when cranking. I think primary resitance on the coil is 1-3 ohms and secondary is 6000 give or take a thousand. If you have power to the coil and those things check out then it is probably the module, or just try a known good module, everyone should have a spare anyway. I get the OEM ones from junkers, better than the aftermarket ones.
To check the coil, disconnect all wires. Primary is across the 2 small connectors and secondary is across each small one to the center term. You need a volt/ohm meter. They are inexpensive. I prefer digital for general use.

thanks. i havent messed with it yet. I have a guy wanting to buy it and he sounds intersted running or not. if i dont hear back from him ill mess with it. Anybody want a 82 f250 4x4 with a c6 and a 460 for 500 bucks??????

well turns out its the ignition switch is touchy. Now it acts like its not getting fuel cuz it will run for a while(10 seconds) then cut out and die. i didnt mess with the carb at all before its issues

can you hold upwards on the switch while its running to keep it running? or maybe the fuel is running back into the tank.
