intake modification

Post by 427 »

I was wondering if anyone has ever modified a F.E. intake by slotting it where the push rods go through? It looks like it could be done but I have never tried to cut them out. It sure would make swapping intakes easier.

I'm not sure what you have in mind here.

I've seen the pushrod holes enlarged to provide additonal clearance, but you can't cut them all the way through to allow removal without removing the pushrods without devising a way to seal the valley and valve cover rail (among other things).

I think they are behind a few port "flanges"

If you cut them so you could pull the intake without pulling the rocker assemblies, I think it wouldnt seal anymore.

I can't see how removing the rockers is such a headache that you'd want to cut up an intake for it. 8 bolts, done.

I guess I didnt look at the design well enough. It probaly would screw up the intake. Thanks for the replies,Brian.
