What the biggest motor you can cram into a 68 F100 is? It has the 360 in it currently.
Just curious.
Thanks

428 is as big as I ever went. I suppose the Cat engine might be alright but don't know how it would handle with a tandem steering axle on the front end!

You could go to a 534, but it was physically a very large engine and heavy.

How much money do you have?
As has been said any gasoline powered ford car or truck engine will fit with varing degrees of dificulty. All the older stuff (FE's, Windsors, Clevelands, Limas) is just a matter of finding the right combination of parts.

Seen an SOHC 427 squeezed into one! WOW was that cool. I'll have to find the pix on line, if I can.goodtimejonny wrote:What the biggest motor you can cram into a 68 F100 is? It has the 360 in it currently.

Re: Does anyone know..
That is an easy stuff the engine in trick. The SOHC is the same width as any FE at the block mounting area. The Heads overhang the block but F series truck have plenty of room on the sides for clearing a FE and more that enough room on the front for the chain case.
I drove a SOHC 54 F1 with top loader and that was a really tight fit.
Try stuffing a SOHC into a 67 Mustang it fits but if not for the top plugs you would never tune the engine.
