nmf5, ive never even heard of one of them, what do they do exactly that makes them more accurate?

It basically lets you see the exact point angle as the engine is running, and thus
is a lot more exact than using a feeler, which is a static setting.
So it lets you get them perfect.
BTW, I'd never seen that meter until now.. Nice to know they still make
dwell meters, and they are digital now.

BTW, one reason a dwell meter is a lot better is you can leave the timing alone
if you always use the same dwell setting. When you vary the point angle, it
effects the timing. So being the feeler gauge is pretty imprecise, you will almost
always need to reset the timing. But if you always set to the exact dwell each time,
you can pretty much ignore having to reset the timing.
I need to change the points on my 68.. They are getting a bit toasty I bet as
it's been a good while. I forgot the exact setting mine uses.. I think 34-38 degrees
or something along those lines.

is there a certain trick to taking off the distributer cap? i couldnt get the latch off the back because i have a line coming off my carb that is pretty close and made it hard to slip off.

i use a flat bladed screwdriver to get the back clip off. its real fun putting back on when your not paying attention or are in a hurry. but i get to where i kind of squeeze the rear clip right in the middle of it and it kind of bows up and clips back on.
