Thanks for the kind words guys. Well the cab mounts are checked off the list of things to do. Last night I took the old mount off on the passenger side and painted the area. This morning I put the new one on. Every thing is right where it needs to be. Here are some updated pics. The first pic you can see the sheet metal screws I used to keep it all lined up. Once the mount was welded up I removed the screws and filled in the holes. Now I can get the cab ready for some Rust Bullet.

Well here is where I am at as of tonight. I finished getting the cab ready for paint and got the first coat on. Turned out nice I think. Tomorrow night I will apply the second coat.

im assuming you used a grinder, did you do anything to quite the noise down? im grinding the paint off the bottom of my cab right now too, but its way too loud i can only do it for a little bit at certain times so i dont piss off neighbors

I did use a grinder. I didnt use anything to keep the noise down. I just went at it. Here is how I did it. I used the grinder lightly to get all the dirt off. Didnt take too long. Then once it was just down to just the paint I used some paint stripper. I used a putty knife to remove the paint after it had bubled. Came off realy easy. Then I used the wire wheel on the grinder on the spots that didnt come off with the paint stripper. There werent very many. The whole thing took me about 4 hours to do.

I rolled the frame out today for the first time since I started the rebuild. I still need to paint the rear leaf springs and rear axle. I also got the cab mounted on the frame tonight.
Here are some pics. Now Tomorrow I will start on the bed.

Took a little break from the truck. I was getting burned out from working on it so much. So I am going to be starting on it again. Finally broke down and bought my own welder. Its a lincoln Pro Mig 180. Next week I will be starting the repair work on the bed. Welding up the bed seam and fixing holes/dents in the bed floor. Once all the metal work is done I will use the rust bullet under the bed. So stay tuned pics will be coming soon.

Re: CO684X4'S 68 4x4 shortbed project (updated 2-23-09)
I finally got back to work on the truck. My current task at hand is the bed. I am replacing the bed floor on the bed I picked up. It looked like someone had been dropping boulders in it. It will be replaced with the floor from the original bed. It is in way better shape. The smaller section and the wheel wells will also be replaced. Man I am really motivated again now that I did some work on it. Cant wait to get the truck done. Here are some pics.
The floor that is getting replaced.
The floor out of the bed.
No floor.
