thanks guys
i ripped apart the tank well not literally but i got rid of the thing that floats name dosent come in to my head
and went to work
i tried the rocks and got about a ziploc bag full of rust and debri then i logged back in and foud the chain idea . i couldnt find a peice so i used a steel tow rope that snapped and the end was coming apart i used it as a brush type tool
tuff work but i think i got most of it
at the end of the night which is about 10 min ago its now 2:08 am
i noticed a rust hole in the opposite top corner of the filler an i think thats where most of my smell was coming from.
i decided to arc weld the hole (after i turned on my sisters car and fed a hose from the exhaust to the filler hole just to kill some fumes wouldnt want an explosion at 1 in the morning)
when the brilliant idea hit me to just make a tank my self out of stainless steel i have laying around
my dimensions are
length: 15in
width: 27in
height: 10in
(i think that should do it im going to take a bit more measurements)
and it will hold from 17-18 gallons just under the stock 19 gal. tank
would have gone with 11 depth but it looked to out of wack and a 9 inch depth would have bin around 15 gal.
im going to use my floater and the suck up line from stock tank
and run a filler neck straight to the far en or the bed and weld in a newer modle gas door and housing just to keep future water from the tank
tank will sit behind my rear axle in between the two sub frames i guess you would call them
any pointers or ideas are welcome you can always have a second opinion
(bumping and foruming)
im gonna get straight to work as soon as this whole huricane ike thing gets settled i think im gonna have to evacuate im not sure
bumps will go to a safe above grond parking lot on the very very top floor of the highest one i can find the rest can stay
fuel tank
