So I finally got some long awaited parts!!!

Post by 390F100 »

If any of you dont already know, I have a 68 F100 long bed 2wd with a 390. The truck was undoubtedly a project when I got her. It had a shortblock 351 that was no good (meaning only the block was in the truck) So sitting next to it was a 70 f100 with a complete 390. with very little history on the 390 in the 70f100 but I bought both trucks for mainly the drivetrain. When I stripped the 390 to reseal it due to it sitting for a longtime (it had no oil leaks) I noticed it had been recently rebuilt. At that time I realized my stock intake 2bbl was shot and very heavy but I was out of money. Well I finally got some money and today I bought an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake with an Edelbrock 750cfm carburator and the pertronix igniter 2 ignition system with the flame thrower 2 coil. I will definitely have pics of it assembled and in the truck in the next few days but I just wanted to share my excitement with all of you. and as always... :fr:

Thanks guys, I will be running duals, right now it has dual glasspacks on it but I will be going to an exhaust shop to have I think the DynoMax Bullet Race Mufflers installed with 4in Cali Sidepipes sticking out the front of the rear tires. I had turbos on my last 68 with a 360 in it and it sounded great but I want a very aggressive sound so any advise would be great.

By the way the 4in out the side would just be the tips It would be 3in exhaust from the headers back.

Sounds really nice. Love the exit in front of the wheels. I'll have to update my site soon to show everyone my new exhaust. I always like that, and both exhaust systems I've had on mine exited there.

I hooked up the Pertronix last night and let me tell you, for all of you who do not have this kit and are still running points, get rid of them and buy this kit!!! It took less than 5 minutes to install and looks great. I obviously have not started the engine yet but will have pics up tomorrow of the intake and carb install. I would have done it last night but I didn't have the carb studs nor did I have the intake bolts. It's getting closer by the minute and cant wait. :fr:

Yeah definately get rid of that resistance wire. That is a necessary step in the conversion.
