Small little update. I finally have all the parts and brackets off the frame. Took a little while there were four things I had to cut off the frame. All the bolts came out easy. Thank goodness for that. I was expecting them to be frozen. I ordered my Rust Bullet today. So tomorrow I will get the frame ready for paint.

Well time for a little update on this bad boy. I finally got my first coat of Rust Bullet Black Shell on. I am rolling it on due to my HOA. It looks ok so far. I will have some pics when it is all done painted. It took my about 40 hours of sanding the frame down. Man did that suck.

Make sure you do your best to get inside the cross members / boxed portions of the frame.... it is amazing how much crap can get in there and then when they rust out it is really nasty.
Anyway, that looks real nice.
I do have a question... rust bullet is silver, the top coat is black... how durable is the top coat... and when it scratches, does the silver show thru or is the top coat really well adhered to the base coat so that isn't an issue?
I've never used rust bullet, so any input is appreciated.
Regards,
Eric

Well since the site was down for a few days I actually got some work done on the truck. Yesterday I was able to get the front suspension and axle back on. Replaced all hardware with grade 8 hardware. Looks pretty good I think. I still need to paint inside the boxed section of the frame. I have part of it done just need to finish.. Right now I am in the middle of replaceing the front cab mounts. Its slowly getting there.

Well I just finished welding on my first cab mount. This actually the very first welding project. I am rather happy with how it turned out. I think It looks good. Looks like I got good penetration. Here are some pics. In the last pic you can see the difference in the factory mount compared to the DC mounts. Oh yeah I did paint the cab floor and inside the mount with rust bullet. Now on to the other mount.

Re:
I know how that is Ming started with a transmission change then that led to finding rust, then a full blown cab swap God I can't wait to drive my truck.CO684X4 wrote:Thanks. It all started just fixing one thing then I would notice another thing wrong. So I finally gave in and took it all apart.
Looks REALLY GOOD I wish I would have done more painting and front end stuff while ming was apart.
