In my 1966 Mustang , we have the timing set a little high so the 289 isn't a slouch. Right now we have some C16 Race fuel mixed in.
But when I take it home to Neon Nights in The Dalles and run through the race gas I'll need an octane booster.
Right now I'm considering Lucas Oil's Octane Booster.
My plan is to run 91 Octane with a booster
I'm runnning a higher octane fuel not just for the timing but to also run a better quality fuel to help keep the engine alive. (It currently has 180,000+ miles on it.)
I've been considering the Lucas product cause it also has Lucas's fuel system lubricator in it and I have not found any bad reviews about it.
A volvo site has done testing with a octane tester and lucas's boosted octane a useable amount.
I'm also considering putting in my truck since it runs better when I can afford to put in super premium.
Also if you are interested in Neon Nights here is info http://www.midcolumbiacarclub.org/ It is truly awesome.
Which Octane Booster?

I use Lucas in my stroker, the others I have tried do not seem to work, with Lucas I get a better idle and it even smells better. I can sure tell when I get ethonol with 10.5-1 compression ethonol really sux.
