Mike, either will work, but the one you have the better choice for any installation.
The one he has is not a first gen. It's a 94-02 hub. The Factory ford fan shrouds are made to conmpensate for the engine being offset in the frame 1 3/4" and the fan being centered over the crankshaft. The mount you have centers the fan over the crank, that puts the fan where it's supposed to be.
Those fan mounts are on ebay continuously. I wouldn't think he'd have a hard time finding one.

Wont there be enough room once the engine fan is removed?averagef250 wrote:Are you going to intercool it? You can't run electric fans and an intercooler, there isn't enough room. The engine fan cools much better too. You can't lose the pulley, the belt has to run on something.

I don't follow. You need to have a fan. The engine driven fan takes up a lot less room than electric fans that will equal it.
It's a very tight fit, but not impossible. Your core support will not be the same after fitting an intercooler/radiator.
If you're really strapped for room you can get rid of the fan clutch and run a solid mount fan. You can get an extra inch, but you'll lose atleast a MPG mileage.
