I beleave there is a difference in the stoutness of the 2x box vs the 4x box.

I was worried about using the 2wd box rather than the 4x4 box in my conversion so I took a trip down to the rebuild shop and asked about the 2 boxes and he had told me that their identical inside except for the longer shaft. I then asked if with the big tires and offroading would the 4x4 box be better and he said both could handle the same amount of abuse and that the 4x4 just has the added bolt for mounting to be a little more stout but he has never seen any 2wd boxes messed up in that area just the usual leaking from wear and tear just like the 4x4 box. But he is just one opinion. I run 35" muds and crossover steering with the 2wd box and not had one problem YET :lol:
