67 Project Update 6/1/2023 (Multiple New Posts With Pictures)

Well, got the cab off and moved it back off the frame some. I didn't have the clearance to lay the cab on it's back. I still have room to spray off the engine and such. Here are some pics:



Does this look like too much has been eaten out of the frame? This is where one of the front cab mounts go.

Also, what is this lever on the transmission in the picture below? My neighbor told me it was a passing gear. However, I have no idea. It is not attached anywhere except to the tranny.

Correct! not sure how it is supposed to be hooked up on an I-6 hopefully one of them who have them can show you... It makes the tranny kick down into passing gear when you step on it to pass

New Engine Paint (not too bad for a beginner):







Next I plan to drop the manual brakes and add disc brakes. Got to save some money first. I will repaint the frame as well. I'm leaning towards KBS Coatings rather than POR15.

Now i dont know how it will affect paint but on cooked on castor oil on my airplane motors i use dawn power disolver about $2. It will clean off all the castor oil very easy.

Gave $100 for the set up. Came off an early dent side F100. They cut off the frame for me. I'll disassemble at home. The cool thing was that I ran into another guy who was cutting out sheetmetal for his 68' Camaro. He hauled the disc brake set up for me. I didn't realize how big it was going to be. See pics below:

Well, I have finally been able to remove my cab. I was able to get a pallet and metal dolly with casters from work.

Luckily I was able to push the cab all the way to the back and put it on the dolly. I don't have anyone in my neighborhood able to help me with this type of lifting. I've learned how to improvise.

Now the I'm ready to pull the engine...I think. I don't have the room, but I really want to paint my frame complete. I'll do what I can.

Great shots of the girls. The glasses look great. I have two girls too (1 and 4). Anyway, nice project and good to see you are making progress. I tried to move a full loaded cab with five guys and it was a joke. We couldn't do anything right. I even had two long 4x4s to put through the windows and it was still a bear. Finally after pizza and beer for helping me, I was out there by myself (like usual) and got more done w/ my engine hoist, shop jack and car dollies.

Your doin good---got some great little helpers there Just take it as it comes--you'll figure out how to make it happen when ya need to. I had all these big plans on how I was gonna get the job done(haven't
used a one of them)and as I started my truck project---easier more efficiant ways just kinda projected themselves.Keep pluggin away---looks good

I was able to pull the motor today. I was a little nervous because I have never pulled an engine before. However, thanks to some guys on here and a picture from Keith, I was able to pull the engine without a hitch.



I am glad I decided to pull the engine. I elected to leave the tranny attached because I am not planning on a rebuild. Well, at least not right now.

Thanks to Craftsman for some great pics and dimensions of his 240ci engine cradle. I was able to duplicate for the most part what he had built. I had to make some adjustments once I actual placed the engine inside.





Next I plan to remove the front and rear suspensions. I'm planning on ordering a rust treatment from KBS Coatings. I'm looking forward to working my way back.
