Hello,
We are all good people here, stick around because this is the best bumpsite you will ever find, and as for your truck i admire your dedication. and believe me your truck will get some serious respect once its finished.

re: father and son project (56k beware)
Nick was 13 when a buddy gave me that 67 Bump. I did not have time to get started on it back then and it sat in the woods for 10 years. We both were ready for this project when we decided to go ahead with it last month. Nick is quite a fabricator and welder. Always having been good at assembly and disassembly, a big reason to go forward with this project was Nick wanted a project to continue to hone his skills as a fabricator and have the satisfaction that he built this classic 60's truck. That Nissan Hardbody he had was all his work, nothing outshopped. Tubbed firewall, raised floor, air bags and four link suspension all fabricated and welded by Nick. Cutting out the Bump's rust and welding in new metal will be a cake walk by comparison. When it is finished it will be like new. I can see it slammed in the future... maybe drop I beams or... "Dad, lets look for a Mustang II" next time we are at the junk yard. Sound like a proud father? Damnbetcha.

Well. When I get home I'm gonna get drunk and while I beat my son I'm gonna ask him why he isn't more like Nick. And I just have dents and dings
I'm kidding of course. I'm a big family advocate and I love to hear stories like yours. I just wished you lived close so I could come over and steal with my eyes. I'd love to learn how to weld.

well we finally found a junk yard with what we needed. we managed to find almost perfect hinge pillers and rockers from f-600. (72' I believe). we got great kick panels out of it too. there is hardly any rust on them and it is everything i need to repair the worst parts of our cab. I also got a section of a roof to repair the one side of our cab where the drip rail has some cancer.
Pullin the doors off
Removing the fenders
let the cutting begin.....all of the brown you see on the new pillars is just dirt and crud. they will be stripped down this week
"Say hello to my little friend!!!
"
I only cut this far back on the rocker because the rear part of our rocker is actually is good condition. I cut way more than i needed on the pillars. this week im gonna start measuring and marking all my lines for my cuts
heres the roof rust
Heres is replacement section. i cut this little sucker out of at 70 something longbed custom. the rest of the truck was trash.
the little stock pile of new metal waiting to go in
heres some progress on the cab, the outside is pretty much totally stripped
More progress on the way............

Thought about it but I am holding out for a F-500-800 black cluster with chrome trim. I saw one white one like the one pictured and it had a large vacuum gauge to the left of the speedo. There were quite a few big bumps there. Every one of them had better floors, pillars and rockers than the pickups did.

Dang you guys should have PM'd me before running out there, I would have loved to come along. I pulled parts off of that truck as well. Did you see all the bumps up on the hill across the lane? One 71 with AC is missing the center of the dash, most of it's in mine now.
Elwoods is a fun place to visit when the ground is frozen. Kind of swampy today I'd bet. There's a lot of old iron on the truck side.

There's one of them darn hood scoops on a F600 as well, actually I think there are two or three floating around that yard.
For those who wonder, here's the yard from space...

Cars are on one side, trucks on the other (under trees)
Here's another big one on the side of a mountain. Albert Crow's place. Last I heard he's been clearing out. He had 14 68-69 torinos sitting around there for year ans a bunch of our trucks.

And one more. Gotta love winter satalite images
Windfield auto salvage, big cove tannery PA. This is the place I took all the pictures at last summer.

How come you didnt just buy the good cab off the F600?
I actually had to rebuild my dogleg on the drivers side (once) and put cab mounts (twice) and floors in mine (once) but that F600 looked pretty solid and pretty much stripped
BTW, you can take 73+ inner fender liners and they'll fit the bump, and you'll never throw salt and water at the mount again
I did it on mine after the last time, and 15 yrs later the mounts look like new
