Started up the F100 after 12 yrs (movie) - Christmas update
Got a noisy lifter, hope it decides to heal itself LOL
Even took a ride around the block
http://media.putfile.com/71-Ford-after-sitting-12-yrs
12 years of sleep is over!
Game plan is to get it road worthy and take the square tires off LOL then a frame-off true resto after that

Cool dude. Can't beat an old Ford to start up after 12 years. That was alot of oil pressure though. I also saw you had some pb blaster I think. That is some good stuff. I actually used some today.

about the long sitting fords starting up...
1)before the 69 was mine, the PO started it right up after 15 yrs of sitting
2)my 69 PO also started a bumpside boom truck sitting for as long as i can remember with just gas and some quick engine work
3)he also started his '70 flatbed up after who knows how long.
and he has a dentside flatbed loaded with welders that is used alot and runs very well.
and he drives a strong running bronco
good ol' fords!!!![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)

cghstrojan08,
The gauge looks scary, it always did at fire up with that motor. It puts out about 80 psi on cold start up with 15w40 or 20w50 using a mechanical gauge . It comes back down to the high side of normal right after it warms up.
I used to run 10W40 because of that, I put the motor together with relatively tight tolerances and I run a CJ pump with the optional spring, I forgot about that when I dumped a bunch of Rotella in there yesterday LOL
Its funny as soon as I saw that gauge I remembered LOL
The game plan for today is to let it idle for a few hours with some marvel mystery oil and hopefully quiet it down. Not sure whay it got loud, it must have a dry sticky lifter from sitting because the motor only has 10-15K at the MOST and its still spotless inside
Supermike;
It was in an unheated garage in Mass for 10 yrs. It is in pretty good shape, but nothing like when I left. It was ready for paint and a daily driver, the damp unheated garage and time were pretty rough on every line and hose. I had to replace every single fuel line and every brake line to get it fired and a trip around the block. Loaded with mice nests, it needs a full resto now. Its still good compared to most, but it was real nice.
My family wont tell me the truth, but I think it got kicked out of storage 2 yrs ago and someone told me in Nov. Sort of odd dynamics there, I am active duty AF and they would prefer to let it sit outside covered in leaves and pine needles over telling me and letting me go get it out of their way
If a friend didnt mention it in casual conversation, it'd still be there
Sitting sure isnt good for a hot rod, but we'll get back on it, lots of history with this old truck

Glad you were able to "rescue" it from your dad's house...
Luckily that friend said something to you. Hopefully the damage from the elements will just inspire you to fix it up faster, as it already has (new hoses, etc.).
Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress with new pictures!

One a custom on-of-a-kind corner-turnin pushrod
![Image](http://members.cox.net/my427stang/Truck/71Ford/Fancypushrod.JPG)
And the other a pair of genuine seasoned header tubes, anurism inflicted primary tube included

Threw a 99 cent new Melling pushrod in and checked that the valve was free, and its quiet as a mouse, so I pulled the headers off. I will have a new set inbound this week, coated this time!
What a shame, only 17 yrs old or so and already rusting![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Believe it or not, only crusty part was where the mouse nest was, that mouse cost me about 500 bones!

Looks like you’re on your way and glad you found the noise culprit and it was an easy fix.
Just out of curiosity was the bent push rod on the exhaust valve of the same cylinder that the mouse house was in the header tube?

You know it was on the same cyl as the rusted tube and was the intake valve
Think he got all the way in? Anything is possible, pulverized mouse and acorns on #7 LOL
I didnt see anything down the intake and the plug looked clean, but you never know

I bent two push rods when I started mine for the first time in a few years when I bought it from the farmer.
